Picnic is safe!

Rejoice brothers and sisters. The Picnic is safe from court wranglings and overdue payments. POD and IMRO who were fighting over cash from past gigs, going as far as talk so stoppin all future concerts by POD which would include this years Electric Picnic. Salvation came this week when both partys saw the light and have ensured all the faithful can worship the Gods of music in the mud.
Amen.

Dry County name change

Dry county said a Dublin gig that it was their last in Dublin. Some people took that to mean they were throwing their hat at the whole thing. Not so. On their myspace page they were kind enough to finish the story they started on stage. They are just going to change their name before going back into the studio. No harm really I never really took to the name, the band rock but the name just left me cold. It could be the thought of a drink free zone.
You see lads this whole thing could have been advoided if you finished your story on stage, this is what happens you tell half a story. It would have saved all this fuss and nobody would have been talkin about any of this............ wait a sec...... you crafty hamsters!

MJEX/Dry County mash up

Messiah J and the Expert have finished their new album and are going to the UK to have it mastered. They reckon it will be about 50 minutes long and have 12 tracks or so.
But to make sure they haven’t become idle (‘cos we all know what a doss making an album is) they swapped squeaks and beeps  with Dry County and have clobbered together mask up/remixes of songs. You can download two of ‘em right here .

New Primal Scream album and free download

Pscream_3 Primal Scream return  with their 9th  studio “Beautiful Future” is out July 21st with production by Bjorn Yttking of Peter Bjorn and John and Paul Epworth of Bloc Party. There are also collaborations from Lovefoxx (CSS) and Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age). Lots of big names here, and when you take the sheer class of Primal Scream into account, this an album release to get excited about. I am not ashamed to admit I giggled a little when I found out.The first single Can‘t Go Back is out July 14th. Its on their myspace page if you fancy a listen . You can also  download an album track “Urban Guerilla” from their website here.

Dion recks AC/DC. Official.

That mad warbling canuck Celine Dion has just been given the dubious but well deserved award of her torture and slow killing of the AC/DC classic You Shoock Me All Night Long. Total Guitar voted it the bottom of the heap and Jimi Hendrix's rework of the Bob Dylan song All Along the Watchtower top of the pile. No surprise as he seems to be every string strummer's  personal  God. Clearly these guys have not being listening to Jonny Cash. He even made Bobo sound profound.

Have a listen to a snippet of her killing it here link

Metallica 9th album is called Death Magnetic.

Yep. Thats a fact that is. Not much else to say on the matter really except that it should be out in Sept.......oh and its produced by Rick Rubin and sounds like the old 80's stuff.

Picnic could be cancelled

Our beloved Picnic is in danger!
It may be cancelled as a result of an on going dispute between Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and POD concerts. The fight revolves around royalties going back 4 years for a number of concerts including the Electric Picnic. We are not talking a few quid here either, it’s more than €432,000.
According to the Irish Times  if IMRO don’t get their dues they could apply to restrain future live events by POD, which would mean the Picnic could very soon end up on the chopping block! Mr Justice Kelly, who will sit in on the case has given Pod 7 days to lodge their defence and then 3 weeks leeway for the sides to see if they can settle out of court.
Come on guys my Summer Holiday was booked just for this………fix it, fix it FIX IT!

Get Cape Sing

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. has just released "Keep Singing Out" from his second "Album Searching For The Hows And Whys". His work has taken on a new depth since using Nitin Sawhney as producer. The album is a showcase of the talents of both Cape and Sawhney who brings almost everything he can find to the mix, I could have sworn I heard him use the kitchen sink, yet keeps it from being cluttered. Cape for his part remains the urban poet with a mad-on against neo-capitalism. He has a talkie/singie style that few could pull off without getting really old really fast. He does it nicely. As for the single its not my faverote song on the album but still a cracker. (release "Waiting For The Monster To Drown" damn you!)
