Rejoice brothers and sisters. The Picnic is safe from court wranglings and overdue payments. POD and IMRO who were fighting over cash from past gigs, going as far as talk so stoppin all future concerts by POD which would include this years Electric Picnic. Salvation came this week when both partys saw the light and have ensured all the faithful can worship the Gods of music in the mud.
Amen.
Our beloved Picnic is in danger!
It may be cancelled as a result of an on going dispute between Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and POD concerts. The fight revolves around royalties going back 4 years for a number of concerts including the Electric Picnic. We are not talking a few quid here either, it’s more than €432,000.
According to the Irish Times if IMRO don’t get their dues they could apply to restrain future live events by POD, which would mean the Picnic could very soon end up on the chopping block! Mr Justice Kelly, who will sit in on the case has given Pod 7 days to lodge their defence and then 3 weeks leeway for the sides to see if they can settle out of court.
Come on guys my Summer Holiday was booked just for this………fix it, fix it FIX IT!

As the sheep of Stradbally Hall finally get rid of the ringing in their ears we can announce that early bird tickets for the 2008 festival go on sale next Friday November 9.

What music?
PlayRewind were in part at Electric Picnic over the weekend - this amateur photographer was there from late Saturday afternoon and had to leave before mid-day on Sunday. Here is a selection of what we snapped, there are over 20 more photos on our Flickr Electric Picnic gallery.
The Chemical Brothers headlined the Saturday night line up (on Sunday morning actually)
The Beastie Boys on stage in a rather large tent, but one which could not take half the crowd. Sure, they're a new group, how would anybody know so many people would have wanted to see them?

Forget the silent disco, the Gramophone Disco was opened for far longer, then the strange looking car tuck over, after that there was a bicycle-powered disco.
No comment.
So, EP again has set standards high for the competition (ie MCD), but that doesn't mean there wasn't fuck ups.
The Beastie Boys played in a tent on Saturday around the same time played on the main stage. It was quite a large tent, but there was - to our estimate - at least four times the amount around the tent trying to hear as well as see the New York group (some picture above).
Parts of the side of the tent was opened up (as pictured below), from what we could see this was done on the direction of the Gardaí.
As would be expected, sound was quite low outside the tend. To our ears the sound volume was raised within 15 mins or so, but many left quite early in the set - although some most likely heading for the Chemical Brothers who were .
So, who put, made, or even allowed the Beastie Boys to play in the bloody tent?
