Songs of Praise karaoke goes on the move

BabssineadThe Dublin rock ‘n’ roll karaoke night, Songs of Praise, is going on the move with a student karaoke competition.

The top prize is a Gibson electric guitar worth over €2,000, while each of the seven heat winners will get an Xbox 360 console, Guitar Hero III, and other games, worth over €1,000.

The amateurs will get rest with Phantom FM’s DJ Sinead NiMhordha playing in-between.

The Songs of Praise, a regular on Sundays at the Village, the Irish Times named it “Dublin's most successful and only credible Karaoke”, while the Guardian said “now firmly established as the city's place to go on the Lord's Day”.

New AFI (live) Album.

AFI are treating fans to a live album it time for Christmas, " I Heard A Voice - Live From Long BeachAfi_2 Arena." recorded in California in 2006. It is the CD of a live DVD they released this time last year. In other words there is nothing new here but it should keep the diehards happy an' since they put on a great show it is not a totally pointless offering, but if you have the DVD a rather redundant one.

Republic Of Loose Hit The UK

Loose Those sleazy providers of funk The Republic of Loose are hitting the trail in the UK to spread their durrrty message, and hopefully get the international acclaim they so rightly deserve.  Their filth/funk/fun stylings have made them legions of fans at home and now they are going for foreign converts.
They have just released the single Aaagh! as their first attempt to conquer the British airwaves.

And to add more spice to the event Snow Patrol have done a remix of “Comeback Girl”. You can download it for free here . Expect Patrol remixes of other bands in the pipeline.

Autamata's 3rd Album On The Way

Autamata have new stuff on the way early next year, Excited? You should be, Ken Mchugh & co create some ofAuta Irelands....scratch that....some of the best melody driven electro pop there is. Ken is camped out in London finishing  the third Autamata album christened "Colours of Sound".

Throwing in his shovel is  Mike Marsh to add spice to the mastering (he, who has worked with theChemical Brothers, Bjork and Massive Attack. His sticky fingers are all over the very Chem Bros sounding "Musics All We Need"

Led Zeppelin Postpone Comeback

Led Zeppelin have been forced to postpone their reunion gig as Jimmy Page has damaged one of his fingers, (plonker).
The concert been moved from Monday, November 26 to Monday, December 10 because Page was instructed not play the guitar for three weeks, (plonker).
Doctors said he will be ready to resume rehearsing in three weeks' time and able to perform on December 10, my birthday by the way sooo it could work out well in the end.

Electric Picnic 2008 'early bird' tickets go on sale this Friday, November 9. So, should we be expecting another increase of the normal price after the early birds fly?  Here's the email...

As the sheep of Stradbally Hall finally get rid of the ringing in their ears we can announce that early bird tickets for the 2008 festival go on sale next Friday November 9.
