Stones Roll Back Around

The Rolling Stones are to play at Slane Castle on August 18th. The band played there in 1982, where they became the first international act to headline the Co Meath venue. A skant 60,000 will be allowed attend the event, 20,000 shy of Slane's usual capacity. Tickets go on sale on Friday March 30 from €86.50.

Hannigan Please, Hold the rice.

Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan have parted creative ways. They are not saying much about the why and wherefores of the whole thing but it seems that they won’t be working together anything soon. Or as Damo’s site says
“Damien has decided that his professional relationship with Lisa Hannigan has run its creative course. As a result Lisa will not be appearing at any of the upcoming live shows. Lisa is embarking on her own artistic endeavours and there are no plans for them to work together in the foreseeable future.”
With a voice like hers, it is unlikely that she will be short of things to do as the Cake Sale can atest to.
I look forward to seeing her streaching her musical muscles.

REVIEW: Electric Six - Switzerland

ELECTRIC SIX -SWITZERLAND

There is a somewhat sordid history of one hit wonders who were much better than their initial hit suggested. Electric Six seem destined to be remembered solely for the completely OTT brilliance of "Danger! High Voltage", the appeal of which is undeniable even now. Returning after the sorely underrated Senor Smoke, Dick Valentine and Co are aiming for the top again with Switzerland

Divine Comedy Win Award Loose Label

The Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon has claimed the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year at the ceremony in Vicar St in Dublin.

The jury of 12 deemed 'Victory for the Comic Muse' to be the best Irish offering of the year.
Hannon collected a cheque for €10,000, from the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) & the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). The award is in its second year.

Fionn Regan, Snow Patrol, Director, Duke Special, The Immediate, David Kitt, Messiah J & The Expert, Republic of Loose and Si Schroeder were the other acts in the running.

But its not all sunshine and happiness as The Divine Comedy are now without a label. They confirmed the news the day after claiming the award. They have given no reason as yet on their website, but have boasted of the win......funny that.
