The Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon has claimed the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year at the ceremony in
Vicar St in Dublin.
The jury of 12 deemed 'Victory for the Comic Muse' to be the best Irish offering of the year.
Hannon collected a cheque for €10,000, from the Irish Music
Rights Organisation (IMRO) & the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). The award is in its second year.
Fionn Regan, Snow Patrol, Director, Duke Special, The Immediate, David Kitt,
Messiah J & The Expert, Republic of Loose and Si Schroeder were the other acts in the running.
But its not all sunshine and happiness as The Divine Comedy are now without a label. They confirmed the news the day after claiming the award. They have given no reason as yet on their website, but have boasted of the win......funny that.
